Members AJ4
I stayed late at work to play a game with my coworkers. Moderators KayC Posted June 21 Author Moderators Report Share Posted June 21 I spent HOURS scheduling posts for my diabetic group, I had eye strain last night, this morning didn't help much, also had someone messaging me with loss of love relationship. My eyes are literally buggy right now! Up since 2:30 am so have already put in 7 1/2 hours but I got it done! So that's my positive. 1
Members RichS
Sorry, I strayed off a little on my last post................. My positive for today was: 1) We did our weekly grocery shopping for 3 1/2 men and got everything put away. 2) We're finally getting our hallway ceiling repaired tomorrow. It had water damage due to a roof leak.

Members Sheilz
My positive .... a friend dropped off a book for me to read and left it in the yard before she went to work. A mystery. I felt very fortunate to have a friend to do that. I didn't have the heart to tell her that I can't read yet. No focus or concentration. But I sat with it on my lap & pretended I was going to read. 1

Moderators KayC Posted June 23 Author Moderators Report Share Posted June 23 My doctor's appt. went well today, I was upset with my A1C as it went from 5.7 to 5.8 but everything else was great! My insulin resistance (triglycerides/HDL) is supposed to be under 1.5-2 and it was .81 so I was really happy about that, I don't know anyone else's that low and I've worked at it so hard for 3 1/2 years. My platelets were up from the throat/tongue issue and it was lower this year so I was stoked about that, if they tested it right now (this was done over 5 weeks ago) it'd likely be in range, so I'm happy it's going down and my calcium, WBC are in the middle range. So all in all, a good visit except I may have to give up coffee to get my A1C down more. 3
Members WithoutHer
@KayCyou've got to be kidding me your A1C is great. I kept mine steady at 5.9 for 4 straight years until I retired and my whole routine changed. My last in April 7.1. over the edge. I also had an appointment today and all my labs were good and my A1C came down to 6.7 and I was happy I was lowering it. Because of my taste loss slowly recovering I still can't eat the right foods and get enough calories to regain the weight I lost. I'm going to nick name you picky Kay for your A1C comment and offer to trade numbers whenever you're ready. 😆 1
Members Sheilz
Well my positive is medical too. I had 3 medical tests today, all at different times & locations, & I made it to all 3. I cried at the reception desk at one, cried through the first test, cried through the second test BUT not a tear during the third test. Is that progress?????? Not sure but the waiting game starts for test results. Yuck. 1
Moderators KayC Posted June 23 Author Moderators Report Share Posted June 23 Sheilz, I'm so sorry, I want to cry with/for you! Glad that is done. I waited 5 1/2 weeks to get my results, no paper copy, just over the phone and their portal is the most sucky I've ever seen...worthless. He said my LDL was too high and I said unless he tested for fluffy & dense, it doesn't tell me anything. I've learned a thing or two on my diabetic site! They want our A1C <5-5.5 so not happy with 5.8 esp. eating under 20 carbs/day! But sure am stoked about my Insulin Resistance! We'll see what today brings!

Members foreverhis
Spectacular, Kay. That’s one thing I love about our house, the views. It’s older (1965) and was last remodeled by the previous owners in 1991. It’s got quirks, needs some more work, and the yard is very small because it’s a “beach tract” lot size, though we’re not on the beach. But the views sold it for us. We can see the bay and bits of the ocean in the near distance. I grew up within an hour of the ocean. I didn’t think I would ever be able to own a house where I could actually see it, but given a choice between this old house or a newer, fancier one inland, I would choose this one without question. The sunsets are stunning year round, which is wonderful, but it’s being able to see and sometimes hear the ocean that gives me a feeling of calm.

Moderators KayC Posted June 24 Author Moderators Report Share Posted June 24 They are worth something cut, but worth more to me, living. Last week a ranger came here and cut my 46 year old lilac tree, didn't announce himself, nothing, by the time Kodie alerted me, it was too late. I am literally mourning that tree. It looked better than it ever had before after my tree guy had his way with it...and then this. It was a start from my MIL's lilac tree, the first thing I ever planted here. He said he thought he was doing me a favor. No! (They've been doing defensible space here required by the gov't after our wildfires here)...then he went on to say it probably would have been okay, it's always green. Yeah, ya think! 1 1
Members Popular Post Sheilz
My positive (because yesterday I had none) today is: I found a therapist. She says she's experienced with grief. She said "you never get over it, you just have a life long adjustment". She also said there is no shortcuts with grief. So she definitely was NOT a "cheerleader" that is going to help me in one months time. So I'm going to give it a go. This is cry worthy! It brought tears to MY eyes to hear! My positive for yesterday was not only having lunch with my daughter and walking along the river, but I took Kodie with me (service dog) and he was so good in the restaurant and grocery store! He really listened and heeded what I said. I am so proud of him! He was registered last Fall but we're just starting out implementing it, his vest was too tight and they wouldn't exchange it in spite of their specifications being off, so had to order another one (and pay for it), but I wore the id tag so it was all good. I would have alot rather had him riding in the upper part of the cart as I feel more connected to him that way, but he was tethered and on the floor, and SO GOOD!! Last night he was really tuckered out! Long day. I asked the guy at Figaro's (inside Winco) for water for his bowl and he said they didn't have any. I thought that was crap, wouldn't eat there even if I wasn't on Keto! He hadn't drank for five hours! So we had to traipse clear across the store to the drinking fountain to get some water. But it's nice to not have to worry about "getting home for Kodie"...although I still had that for Jazzy. Iris is losing her mind...said she'd pick up her daughter at the airport at 3 and wouldn't be home until dark, I knew she was getting groceries after and figured they'd get a bite to eat. So I figured she must have left by1:30 so I rescued Jazzy out of her kennel (no food, water or exercise) after I got home between 4:30 and 5:15, eating my dinner late, but I got a phone message from her AFTER I'd left to meet my daughter for lunch saying she was picking her daughter up from the airport at 4:45! Big difference. Had I known that I would have gotten Jazzy out AFTER eating, as it is it left her with another 3 1/2-4 hours. I just feel so sorry for Jazzy sometimes! I don't understand why she doesn't leave her loose in the house so she could at least move around, eat and drink!

Members Popular Post Gail 8588
My positive for today is that I am pretty much recovered from my bout with Covid. Members Popular Post Gail 8588
I had a delightful day watching my 4 year old grandson playing in a little inflatable swimming pool with 8 inches of water in it and a few colorful balls. He had so much fun making up games and stories about his deep sea adventures. "Grandma watch this", as he threw the balls in the air hoping they would splash down in the tiny pool. The simple joy of playing in the water in a shaded yard, eating popsicles with Grandma, it was summer vacation. Life is good. Gail 3
Moderators Popular Post widower2 Posted June 29 Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted June 29 This is not a positive but thought someone might get a snicker out of it...I have a groundhog who is driving me batty. I have seen him in the back yard a time or two and the second time I saw him, instead of rushing out of the yard, ducked into a pile of English ivy that has overgrown my little (like tiny, 2x4) pond next to the back porch, so I thought he had made that his new home. I didn't care about that until I saw he had gnawed on a few of my deck posts and keeps digging an "escape hole" underneath my wooden fence near the front of the yard! At first I didn't connect the dots of what/who it was and just thought it was a one-time thing and put the dirt back. Next day, it's dug out again. arggggh.... OK I put a brick under, that'll stop him. Nope. Next day, brick has been knocked out and another hole. OK we wanna play rough do we. So I got a CINDER BLOCK and put it up against that spot. Move that you little ####. He couldn't. So he dug another hole next to it. I put another cinder block next to that which blocked that whole section. He went to another section of the fence and did it again! I was SO pissed....but I love animals and despite very nasty thoughts didn't want to kill him. I blocked that section too but I'm sure he'll find another, so I'm going to the nearby agricultural store where they sell various animal repellants/etc (it's a rural area) and see if something there might work. Also today I lit a very small, brief fire at the "entrance" where I saw him go into the ivy which I'm hoping will be a clue. But he is a stubborn little SOB! Unfortunately for him, so am I.... 1
