Moderators Popular Post KayC Posted May 2 Author Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted May 2 After having a bear visit and tiny ants infiltrating my bathroom, I went to the eye doctor, $578 later got groceries, got home charged 3 x as much on Kodie's hotdogs, hung up on by their customer service...I fed the horse and took Kodie to play with Jazzy. Long day, should sleep well tonight, we'll see.

Moderators KayC Posted May 2 Author Moderators Report Share Posted May 2 I lost my cellphone, spent an hour looking this morning, it was off so wouldn't ring in. I thought it was on the charger, nope. Looked everywhere, tired last night so undoubtedly absent minded last night, checked picnic table, freezer, car, inside couch, EVERYWHERE! I finally found it on Kodie's couch. A big YAY!!! 2

Members Popular Post RichS
A HELPFUL TIP: It would be nice to carry a GoodRx card with you (in your wallet or purse). Our pharmacy allows them to compare insurance vs. GoodRx cost; always giving us the LOWER of the two prices. Sometimes GoodRx is cheaper, sometimes not. Today, GoodRx saved me $131.00. That'll pay for a tankful of gas and a couple of packs of baseball cards :). THE DYING ART OF COMMUNICATION: The other day I was driving in the car with Ross and mentioned to him that I friend of mine (who was overweight) had gastric bypass surgery. He didn't quite hear it right and said, "what did you say, DRASTIC BYPASS SURGERY?." Really folks, when you think about it, is there really much of a difference between the two? 5
Members Popular Post foreverhis
I drove into town with my friend (Cosi's favorite auntie) today to return the TV. Raleigh's dad came over yesterday and helped me wrestle out a large, dead plant from a big pot and then reset it and plant in a new shrub. It would have taken me two or three times as long. Plus, he's great company. Then we put the Rabbit's top down and loaded the TV. This morning's weather was picture perfect, clear and slightly warm and only a light breeze. What memories it brought back. My friend used to have a convertible, so she was all about the memories too. No hassle returning the TV and then it was off to do a smidge of grocery shopping before heading home. Not a bad way to start the day. 2

Moderators Popular Post KayC Posted May 3 Author Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted May 3 Had a good time at Bible Study yesterday, didn't the week before, one never knows, much depends on the leader as to how it goes, a different one last night. Barracaded off the patio, wouldn't stop a bear but it'd make a helluva clatter, biding Panther more time to get away. I hope somebody does something about this bear pretty soon with it being injured and preying on us. His injury wasn't apparent to me, but they say it has an injured foot. I fell over backwards last night, tripped over the well head trying to empty wood dust from the wheelbarrow...just some cuts & bruises, not bad, matches my hands only not as deep. I laid there a bit before getting up on my knees on the gravel, ouch! I'm fortunate, my bones seem to be strong...so far. 1

Members Popular Post Rey Dominguez Jr
Positive - got to help our younger son replace brake pads and discs on the front of his van. He needed to use my garage and I was happy to oblige. He did most of the work and I provided technical assistance and ran to the parts store for a special socket he needed for the job. We got it all back to together and everything worked, and we didn’t break anything. Was a nice distraction. Another one of those evolutions that had me remembering that Veronica would usually call our son or me to ask how things are going, or she would ask me to help her outside and she would walk to the garage to check things out. Missing her so much this afternoon. 2

Thank you very much, KayC. The pictures of us together like that have become more precious to me. Her smile is a tiny bit uneven due to a mild stroke she experienced in May of 2013. I miss her so much it hurts. On another, sad note, I went to a celebration of life for our daughter-in-law’s brother-in-law. DIL’s sister and husband had been together for 23 years when he died of apparent heart failure around St Patrick’s Day. So I went after visiting Veronica as I always do on Sunday afternoon, mainly to be with our son and DIL, and to just to be there for the sister. Sister has to do the another celebration of life in NH where her husband was from and has family. 1

Moderators Popular Post KayC Posted May 7 Author Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted May 7 The following is maybe TMI so stop if you don't want to read it but this is a HUGE positive for me! I took Kodie out in the yard as soon as it was light and implored him to try to go, I knew he wanted to please me and he did! It had a good size piece in it (yes I took it in the house and unraveled it to see how much, who wouldn't!) and from what that part of the stool looked like, I recognized he had some in his stool earlier too on one of our walks. I'm confident he will get the rest out. Praying! He isn't eating much but some. But he may have felt sick to his tummy too. Will see how he does today. And of course he'll eat his treats! 8

Members Popular Post DMB
Hi. Pretty sure I have mostly positives but I'm not mentally all that great, I think(?) I have been off my low dose Prozac for about a month. I didn't feel I needed it any longer. We had my daughter's bridal shower, and it was very nice. Unfortunately, my sister had a medical emergency and missed it-so not a totally positive joyful day. The next day I spent with her in the hospital. She is home now and we're awaiting test results to confirm a diagnosis. Her eye doctor actually sent her to the ER with inflammation of her optic nerve. Scary stuff. They had her loaded up on steroids which did help her not lose her sight in her one eye. It's very humid here this morning. Just had a short passing storm. My floors are actually damp/wet. It's too early for this! I managed to run the dishwasher and put in a load of clothes before work. I really do struggle with these cleaning chores, and I am trying to talk myself into just doing something, anything during the week and this will keep my weekends free. The next challenge will be opening that cottage. I almost don't want to go. I paid for it though, so guess I should. Perhaps it's just that his anniversary date is approaching. I took that day off. Can't believe it's been 4 years. I have experienced joy since he has passed, but I don't feel completely whole as a person, and there's an arm reaching out from the grave gently pulling me down. All in good time. It's very hard for me to explain to people that I'm ready to go, yet I also know I have much to live for. Does it sound like I need to go back on the meds? Maybe ask for something else? 1
Members Popular Post DMB
Anywho, I am positive that my daughter's wedding theme of wildflowers has sort of triggered these feelings. Four years ago was still covid and we of course could not have a funeral. There was just a parade of deliveries coming to the house. There were so many flowers I was short of breath at times. The girls at the shower did a flower bar for our guests as a thank you favor, and they were just beautiful! I have also purchased some silk flowers to put around, which are her colors, and no maintenance! Yesterday I put some at the cemetery. I also have live ones around my deck. In an attempt to spread the joy around with all these flowers, I found it just a bit odd that I feel 2 rungs short of real happiness. I suppose the positive is that I came here, wrote all this, and feel better! I'll leave you 2 photos of May 2020, and 2 of May 2024. Thank you all for listening! 1

I always did this prior to my husbands retirement almost 2 years ago (he retired at 71 and only had 1 year 9 months of retirement)....but when I did it before it was to surprise him. Last year either he did it or we tackled it as a team. I miss that. But it's done and looks great (and it got me outside) - When I was finished I saw 2 cardinals by the feeder, so that was nice. Members Popular Post Boggled
I found a new kind of flower I like, because it's blue (really more like purple), called "agastache," so bought one little plant. Today I'm thinking I might get in the car and drive to the grocery store where I bought it, and look for MORE FLOWERS. And I've been thinking I'd like to try a kind of exercise DVD, was looking at them online, then thought, why not check the library? ... and the library has two of them, both on the shelf. oh. good. So for a change of pace for me, I'm thinking of "just get in the car and go." For a long time, "we" would group everything together to do all at once when we made the long-ish drive into town; now, just for looking at flowers and getting a couple of DVDs at the library, hey, I can change enough to open up this, this one day. really for no other reason than just to "get out." 4

Members Popular Post Rey Dominguez Jr
Met our son and DIL for dinner with DIL’s mom and family, including DIL’s sister who just lost her husband. Occasion was their mom’s 65th birthday. Went to a Japanese style noodle restaurant that their mom really likes. When they invited me initially I was hesitant to go without Veronica because she was always present with me at family gatherings like this. I decided to go after completing my Red Cross shift. It was bittersweet, being with DIL’s family but, at least for me, looming absence without my bride. Dinner was nice but I was eager to get done and home.
Moderators KayC Posted Saturday at 11:14 AM Author Moderators Report Share Posted Saturday at 11:14 AM I was in my nightshirt when Iris called, they were trapping a cougar on her place and she couldn't let Jazzy out so wanted to know if we wanted to go with them for a walk. I'd also been nervous and wouldn't let Kodie outside alone so I got dressed and we drove somewhere out in the country and let the dogs run close by. Kodie minds so well. Jazzy not so much, but thankfully she decided to come back to us. I hope they get the cougar, he is horrible to have loose here in the neighborhood. Panther is nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof. Yellowjackets out in droves, I sprayed the eaves all over my patio and got their nests down. They can have my carport but I draw the line at taking over my patio. I have one yellowjacket trap at one end, and ordered one for the other end...they seem to be ignoring them. Fun, and I'm allergic. A huge one came in the house (I now have a flyswatter by the door) and I killed it. They are prolific this year, glad I got it, a thousand to go... 1
