The market is at an all time high, so your IRA would normally reflect that. When John died, the Dow was in the 20,000s now it's at 39,000. Almost double in 7 years.

Depends what it consists of, but generally, yeah...so glad I didn't follow my financial advisor's advice and shift heavy into bonds. But yeah have to wonder where it will end. Anyway My small positive is my new garden hose arrived today. I don't need it right now, but it was a good sale and the one I have hooked up in the front was not only old and stiff, but I nicked it with the lawn mower last summer. Good excuse to get a new one. Members Popular Post Marq
Today was Dorothy’s funeral. We did not have traditional services. We talked about Dorothy. We told stories. We looked at photos. We talked about how strong she was, loving and empathetic. She would help anyone in need and easily made friends everywhere. Positive today was celebrating Dorothy’s life and her impact on others. Dorothy is amazing and I am trying to hold on to the real fact that she is still having an effect in the world thru the people she met. I miss her and I love her and’s I always will. Members Popular Post Gail 8588
My positive today is that I visited John's grave today, the 7th anniversary of his death. There was lots of rain all around, but not at the cemetery. It was lovely. I now have 4 graves to visit there, John, his brother, one brother-in-law and one sister-in-law. I took cut flowers for each of them. It really was peaceful. I had a nice long chat with John. 2
Members Popular Post RichS
I got back yesterday from my Uncle's funeral in Massachusetts. It was last Thursday, but the funeral director, the priest and all the relatives were all troopers braving the cold, windy day at his graveside service. Friends from Florida sent a beautiful flower arrangement. The Veterans stopped by to give him a military service; complete with an American flag wrapped in a triangle. All who were there were amazed that he lived to be 95. It was a nice send off. We are probably having, "way more than we think," but they are so painful that our conscience minds repress them as we are waking up. Last night I had a dream about us that made me realize this. We loved it there. It was a favorite walk for us to get out in the peace of nature. I tell myself that my words are carried to him on the breeze. I am certain that somehow, some way, they hear us and I have faith that your John feels the love in your heart every day.❤️ 3
Moderators Popular Post KayC Posted March 4 Author Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted March 4 Over 36" of snow in the last week (Over 5" in the middle of the night) and I have all the paths dug, mailbox dug to so the driver can get to it, car sort of unburied, will finish cleaning it up later. Not bad for an old lady! Yesterday I had two mishaps, I'd made Keto Brownies and took them out of the air fryer and it slid right off the rack and kept flying...onto my marble floor. Nothing stands a chance against the marble. The 8x8" glass dish shattered into shards all over the kitchen floor and even into the next room. I yelled at Kodie NOT to come in and put up visible reminders for him. I swept and swept and vacuumed and lastly went over it all with wet paper towels. The other was I spilled coffee on my laptop, yes, the keyboard. I was in shock but I acted quickly and turned it over, not caring where else it went, just get it off of THERE! I grabbed a dishtowel and started soaking it up from underneath it, shook it so it'd come out of the cracks. I was finally satisfied I got it all, nothing else was coming out even when I put the edge of kleenex in between the letters. I wanted to take the battery out and clean it but couldn't see a way into it. My old one had a way to open it and change the battery if needed, this one appears sealed. So here's hoping...so far it seems okay. This may not sound like a positive but it feels good to have all of it behind me! Hoping for a more mundane day today. We just got back from feeding the horse her apple. 1 hour ago, foreverhis said: I am certain that somehow, some way, they hear us and I have faith that your John feels the love in your heart every day.❤️ I hope so too, I've talked to George the last 18 1/2 years and hope/pray he does. 2

It was a souvenir glass too, doh. So I bought some plain (and sturdier I hope) glasses to use. One of them breaks, not a big thing. On the upside, a neat little nature thing today. Members Popular Post Rey Dominguez Jr
Positive for the day; had a productive afternoon. Washed dishes from last night and this morning and then went right into cleaning the kitchen. I appreciate that our older son is living with me at the moment and he likes to cook, but as much as I appreciate his cooking, the mess afterwards can be annoying. Wiped down all the cabinets, the range hood, counter tops, burner grates and stove top, then swept and mopped the floor. Mopped the floor 4 times until I could not see any more streaks on the floor. Was describing what I was doing to Veronica and when I was all done, I could hear her thanking me for cleaning the kitchen and telling me it looks nice now. Next task is the bathroom. Then the rest of the house. Cat hair tends to collect when I am not looking. 5

Soooo glad that’s not me!! Luckily for those folks the city has to take care of the problem. However, who knows how quickly that will be! The crazy thing is a few days later we got hit with a big snow storm. Very cold temps with 8-10” in the valley with several feet in the mountains. Members Popular Post Rey Dominguez Jr
Well, like I mentioned earlier, got to cleaning the bathroom. Mostly dusting the light fixtures and towel racks, wiping down the walls, cleaning the bathroom countertop and sink, bathroom window, toilet, sweeping and mopping the floor. Did not make it to the bathtub, but will get that and the ceiling exhaust fan on Friday. Again, I was letting Veronica know what I was doing and imagining her telling me thanks, it needed it. I agree with her that the cleaning needed to be done. Then printed whatever forms I was lacking to get taxes done. Have an appointment in a couple of weeks. Members Popular Post Adriennelc
Well, I got up and gutted the kitchen. The new floor was laid and doors etc rehung. Now going into town to deliver a poster I had made for a shop, get food (eating is sporadic for me since Ken's death) and then eat some humble pie for a comment I made about someone and was overheard. Not proud of myself for being a twisted so and so. Had another couple of folks wanting to come for a visit. That's the downside of living in a beautiful part of the Scottish Highlands - everyone wants to come and stay when the weather is OK. I used to enjoy having my calendar full whereas I just think it's a load of hassle now with all the washing and cooking I'd have to do. I also have to be brutal and think 'do they ever ask if I'd like to go and stay with them'? Have they been there for me as all my close friends have been? Members Popular Post RichS
This morning, I must have been in a reflective mood. Two thoughts came to mind: 1) That I'm grateful for all of the friends (near and far away) that I have. Still have a handful of relatives as well. I keep in touch with them and they do the same. 2) When you lose your partner, it's like sitting on a FOUR LEGGED STOOL (old normal) before it happened. Then once it happens, one of the stool legs break. The stool can't be used unless you rearrange the remaining THREE LEGS in a position where the legs can continue to support the stool again (new normal). Unless you're a master carpenter, it's not an easy thing to do; but it's necessary if that stool is important to you and you want it to be useful again. Mind you, I had Thought #2 before my first cup of coffee, so hopefully I don't seem too far out there.
