Moderators KayC Posted March 29, 2023 Moderators Report Share Posted March 29, 2023 John, everywhere I hear medical are dropping the ball. I hate they put you in this position. I hope by now you are home and they will figure out the next plan of treatment. For me it's my taxes, they've had them a month, still haven't done them, much more snow coming and lasting. This is what I was afraid of, but I couldn't get them to get on the ball. They don't consider where I live.
Members Popular Post John9
Hello all, I was released and Wednesday I had my Radiation. I thought I was doing okay, but I had nausea again and ended up in bed, but I managed to nap for a few hours and woke feeling a little better and managed to at least have a feeding, albeit a small one. Today was a little better, and our Son met the primary Oncologist for the first time, so he is aware of some of the treatments coming. I'm just struggling to make it through each day. Take care, John 1

Members Popular Post John9
Hello all, I had a Radiation treatment this morning, I thought I was doing okay. I came back to the house and started my medications and did a feeding. Then about an hour later I felt nauseous and had to go to the bathroom and ended up going to bed for 4 hours. I did get up and tried my medications again and then drank some V8 juice and had some soup, I am about to try the other part of the feeding. Hopefully I will make it through and will be able to stay out of the Hospital this weekend. Take care, John

Praying you can keep some food down! And not feel so sick. KayC, Thank you. I did manage to keep everything in yesterday, but I was trying to prepare for a Nurse visit today and vacuumed the carpet AND that made me nauseous. I did manage to do my feeding and when the Nurse came she said that the vacuuming may have been too much for me at this time. I don't do much right now but I didn't think that was too strenuous, but it must have been because after I relaxed it has been okay so far. I did drink a V8 and I just ate some cream of wheat with some peanut butter mixed in for calories and it is okay so far. Hopefully it will be okay for my later feeding. I guess I need to figure out what is my triggers for this, just like I had to figure out my triggers for the grieving. Take care, John 2

Members Popular Post John9
Hello all, I'm still here, but it isn't easy. I spoke to my Radiation Doctors Nurse and told her that I think part of my nausea is motion sickness. My loving wife and I used to take our Son to the amusement parks, but I could only ride certain rides because I would get sick. I realized that when I was in the Hospital the last time that the Doctors listened to me when I said I felt fine when I didn't move and they prescribed a motion sickness patch that lasts for 3 days. Sadly they sent my out of the Hospital without a prescription. Through much research I figured out I am one of the "lucky" people that radiation and Chemo can trigger motion sickness. The Doctor prescribed the patch and it does seem to help me, Since Monday I was only nauseous 1 time. I still have my other issues with the feedings and diarrhea but one thing at a time. I am trying to eat what I can, but an all liquid diet is hard to process since I am always feeling full. I am losing weight each week and I am trying to follow the Doctors orders. Hopefully if I can tolerate a little more each day I will at least stop the weight loss. I thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers. The treatments just wear me down and I am so tired all of the time, and that makes it hard to eat as well because I spent 2 days in bed most of the day. Take care, John

Members Popular Post John9
Hello all, I am in the hospital and have been since Tuesday, I was experiencing issues with my vision and hearing. They did an MRI but nothing showed any indication of a problem. The Oncologist said that it could be from the chemotherapy drugs, I am in the hospital where my treatments are and I had 2 radiation treatments while here. The Doctors tried to get my feeding tube scheduled but after a few hours I couldn’t handle the pain so they had to stop, it felt like a hot knife in my stomach. I keep having the nausea and they keep tweaking the drugs and today I haven’t had any issues. Whether it lasts is another matter. Right now I’m receiving nutrients from an IV but I don’t know what the plan is because I can’t do that at home. Take care John 1

Members Popular Post John9
Hello all, I’m still in the Hospital with uncontrollable nausea. I seem fine one day and then it is terrible the next day. I’m down to the last 5 radiation treatments, if it works out that portion will end next Friday. But I’ve only had 2 chemotherapy sessions. I am just. So tired of this and want it to end. I can’t sleep very well because of the IV, I am up every 2 hours to pee, and I have to unplug the pumps to take them with me, so I’m mostly awake when I get up to go. Then I have to plug them back in and try to get comfortable before the next time. I am sorry to say I am so tired of this existence and just want to go to sleep and never wake up again except in my loving wife’s embrace. Members Popular Post John9
Hello my friends, I’m so far tolerating a slower feeding, but found out today my insurance company rejected the claim for my formula because they claim I don’t have the coverage for it. The first billing is over $500 and I am going to have an issue when they let me out of the hospital. I’m hoping that I will be able to eat , at least my liquid diet again. I haven’t been informed about the next phase of the treatment but today is 2 weeks since the last radiation treatment. I have to get out of here before I go crazy though. I don’t know what the follow up appointments will be like and how many new drugs they will put me on. I am on a lot of drugs here for nausea control, 4 different ones and they are injecting them into my port which I am unable to do when I’m released. Right now my incision is irritated and painful, but expected I guess according to the nurse today. She said just to make sure they keep an eye on the area. The first surgery wasn’t like this after the first days because of the fentanyl patch, but this really still hurts even with the patch. Take care John
