We have a similar problem with our Azaleas. They bloom around the middle to the end of March. By the end of April, they're pretty much gone; then it just looks like an ordinary hedge.

Had a good day yesterday, didn't have to be anywhere.  Tomorrow dentist out of town and next day doctor bright and early.  But yesterday I enjoyed.

Today a young priest (ordained yesterday) said his first mass. I know both of his parents. His parents brought up the traditional bread and wine gifts and he blessed both of them. What a proud sight it was for the three of them!

I have had 2 pretty productive days, all at my son's house. 

Did lots of good grandma work, playing with my grandsons.  My 5 yr old asks very suprising  questions, about math.  He wanted me to explain about 90 degree angles and 180 degree angles (they were mentioned in domino videos he watches).  He listened intently. I have no idea how much he understood, but he seemed to appreciate  that I took the time to explain it to him.

I helped my son assemble bunk beds for the boys, and assembled a teak outdoor couch set. Five pieces that lock together to make an L shaped sitting area. He is using it in a screened room the kids use as a play area.

His house is feeling more complete after his wife moved 1/2 the furniture  out.

When I retreat to my own home, I'm  pretty worthless. Still can't  seem to shake my depression about the divorce. They all seem to be doing well.  Hopefully soon my brain will get the message that the divorce is not a catastrophe.

Big positive: this morning's BP: 133/79!  I was hoping to hit the 130s, but that knocked it out of the ballpark for me!  One week ago today: 220/96. 

Back to the doctor this morning 8:15, will ignore whatever they tell me, it won't be fasting this time and coffee raises it, not skipping coffee after getting up so early, and will use restroom beforehand (need empty bladder), learned a lot from the 11 tips article.

Chris used to have a problem with getting an accurate blood pressure reading. It seems that only a standard cuff with the air pump would work. The mechanical ones they have now would never give them an accurate reading.

I should probably get a cuff, getting to that age where you have all this medical crap in the house lol (for Christmas a friend of mine and his wife gave me a thermometer...it does make sense to have one around but I would have much preferred wine).

I have really sensitive upper arms. By the time the cuff is tight enough, I am in so much pain that most of the time my BP spikes. Our internist got a newer digital one that doesn’t squeeze so tight. But white coat syndrome is definitely real!

John and I bought a wrist cuff, had it calibrated at our doctor’s office, and use it to the letter. It’s so much better for me. But you do have to follow the instructions to the letter.

Veronica had trouble with the cuffs on her upper arms also, although, I do recall she seemed to be more at ease with the manual operated ones with the squeeze-bulb.  The machine ones tended to squeeze her arm quickly which she didn’t like.  We had also been using one of those at-home ones for the wrist, one made by Omron.  Has been a very good unit over the years.  But I will never forget the morning i took her to the ER, we could not get a BP for her.   Worked fine for me, nothing for her.  When I get her to the ER and the nurse grabbed her BP, she was at something like 75 over 20, something scary low.  They took Veronica into the ER right away after that.

A positive for the day, was productive in the garage.  Spent time cleaning and putting away tools, cleaning off and sweeping my work benches and tables.  I seem to have collected 5, count them, 5 battery chargers for the power tools such as drill drivers and reciprocating saw, impact tools.  They were just kind of neatly piled on one section of the workbench.  I thought enough of this.  I found a board, 3 ft long and 2 foot wide that I screwed into the wall and then hung all the chargers on the board, all nice and neat, cords routed so as not to be in the way, all plugged into a central power strip.  Turned out nice, the kind of thing I would have been telling Veronica  about.  She would have said, “Good!  It’s about time!  As long it’s done now and you’re good with it.”  I miss telling her about stuff like that.

Positive: This morning's BP: 125/74! Down from 220/96 nine days ago at doctor. Moral to the story: don't go to the doctor!

Well, I'm going against that for the next two days. Cardiologist today, Vascular Specialist tomorrow. Both doing a re-check on the small blood clot in my left leg. Just by looking at it, I don't think they'll be too pleased; but I didn't major in medicine in college...................

MY POSITIVE IS I MADE IT HOME IN ONE PIECE!  TALKED TO SON AN HOUR! They got a new Husky, 140 lbs, he's already lost seven. Grizz Lee, he's adorable. 

Exhausted! Iris called me at 12:30, needed a ride to Eugene for an eye appointment, they'd just had a cancellation and the appt was at 12:15. Left at 1, got there about 2 (I drove a little faster than usual and we didn't hit construction).  Waited for two hours+ for her to get out.  Kodie was an angel. Took him out to pee and got him a drink.  Got gas, stopped at store briefly, came home and put my stuff in the fridge, took her home and let Kodie and Jazzy play, came home, let him poop/pee. fed Panther.   Iris has retinol issues, has to go back in a month for testing again, then go from there.
Skunk came onto patio and would not leave early this morning, very brazen!  Sprayed and sprayed and sprayed. Burning a candle today.

Funny how you can have a day like that yet not be able to sleep! Want to make it through my doctor's appt. today and then relax!

Positive for me today: mental and physical therapy complete.  Worked on the truck to replace the very worn out upper ball joints in the front suspension.  Purchased the needed tool on eBay and it worked perfectly.  Did the whole task in about 3 hours, even took my time so as not rush and make mistakes.  Didn’t hurt myself and didn’t break anything, and everything went back together correctly.  When I came in, I was telling Veronica what I did and job was all done, just sore arms and back.  Then I made tacos for dinner.  Veronica always remembered “taco Tuesday”, so for her….

For the past two days, caught up with some friends on the phone, who I haven't spoken to in awhile. Yesterday, my neighbor/friend down the block stopped by an we had a chat about our health issues (and my grieving). At least for me, talking has always been good therapy; but one size doesn't fit all.

Well I'm  trying to see this as a positive.  I am going out of town for 10 days.  First to Atlanta then to visit family and friends in St Augustine. 

I have been irrationally concerned about my grandkids and their dad with this divorce. I know they are doing fine.  I feel like I am hovering too much. Not good for any of us.  So I agreed to dog sit for my son in Atlanta while he and his wife visit Yellowstone NP and then I am sharing an airbnb with my 3 sister-in-law in St Augustine  for 2 nights.  Three of us are widows.

I should have a good time in both locations. I lived in Atlanta for 11 years and have many good friends there. St Augustine was my home for 14 years. Lots of friends there too. 

So this will be good for me to enjoy some me time. Hopefully it will help reset my brain to stop being so concerned about the divorce situation.

Feel so good about all I accomplished yesterday clear up until bedtime!  My hands hurt like crazy after sifting through ash for two hours last night, I didn't think about how abrasive it is, my hand need some healing care today!  Should have worn gloves but then you can't feel the nails, etc. as well.

Raining today, will leave my car outside, maybe it'll get some of the gunk off...carwash has been closed lately.  I can't turn the valve on to wash it here, one of the side effects of my 10% strength.

Got all the hardware picked up and thrown in my garbage.  Didn't take nearly as long as sifting through it all did.

Iris wanted to go to Concerts in the Park, but it's only 50 out, drizzling rain, nope.  Just got back from walking Kodie.

Went to church with Kodie, it was a great distraction from George's death.  We had missionaries and they are the cream of the crop imo.

Just me in Atlanta, house sitting 2 dogs and a cat.  For the 2 days in St Augustine I'll  be with my 3 SILs but there I will not have any dog or cat responsibilities.

I have visited a few friends here in Atlanta, but my tendency is to want to just hole up here in the house and not see anyone. I'm  having lunch today with a friend  that is not doing too well medically. It will be good to see her and her son who is her caregiver.

It was time to be productive in the house again today.  Just couldn’t stand seeing all the cat hairballs any longer.  Broke out the vacuum and mop bucket and went through the house vacuuming, sweeping and moping the floors.  Told Veronica I’ll do the dusting next week before my sisters arrive in town.  She would tell me the floors look good and then thank me for cleaning.

Sunday I went to the town's only carwash and asked when it'd be open again, to which the guy told me they'd just gotten it fixed and 15 min. later a lady rammed through the bar on a red light and wrecked it again.  Didn't sound like it'd be any time soon if ever. (Wouldn't her car ins. cover that???)

So yesterday morning it had poured rain and my car was all wet, so I got out my carwash brush and went over it (I can't turn on my outdoor faucets because of my 10% strength & not being able to shut it off), then poured a pitcher of water over it.  Yes it dried streaked but it got all the bugs off!  Better than nothing, will have to go to a carwash 60 miles away next time I go to the valley.

Last night I spent four hours picking sticker bushes (a stickery weed all the way down the stem that just continues to grow if you don't get rid of it) about 1,000 of them, put on the burn pile, my hands are hurting today, may use epsom salts but oh gosh I hate holding still!  I feel good about what I got done, if you pull them out by the root it's best, otherwise they grow back, they're all up and down the road!  
Kodie was a champ about it...I tend to like to do a job and get it DONE!

Today is 19 years since my George died...this is a day of remembrance.  My friend and fellow moderator, Lynne, just lost her dad about ten minutes ago...keep her in your thoughts/prayers today please.💕

Today my positive is:

I got to talk to my daughter for a while last night (no mention of George), I'd meant to delete a link in a text and instead it deleted the entire thread and would not let me start another text to her, so got ahold of her after work and had her send me a new text to start again.  Trying to make plans to see her for her bdy but will have to be on the weekend after some time.
