How do you explain to a young child what death is?

How do you explain to your young child that mommy lost the baby she was carrying in her tummy? Or tell them that a family friend lost his battle with AIDS? Or answer "Why did puppy have to die?" In an eighteen month period, I was faced with explaining all of these things to my four year old son. I couldn't find any books that were specific enough, or age appropriate to give him the answers I wanted him to have. So, I wrote my own. I have just made it available on eBay in eBook form, and wanted to share it with those here that may have need of it. "Mommy, What is Dead?” is an illustrated book explaining death and dying, aimed at preschoolers and young children. It explains the difference between body and soul, and the various ways people and animals die. Taking no religious stance, it offers the two most common beliefs as to what happens to the soul after death (“heaven” and reincarnation). "Mommy, What is Dead?" offers comfort by telling children that our memories are the way love continues on. If you search my name - Nikki Sian-Leigh Aksamit, or by the title on eBay, you will find it. I wrote this book in hopes that my efforts can help families during their tough time, and that it may be used as a resource in healing. I am looking to you to help me get in touch with those who have grieving children and need help helping them heal. You all have my love and prayers during your time of grief and healing.

Its lovely that you wrote a book for preschoolers on this challenging "What do we say?"  subject. I have also written a book ... for gradeschool age children and up which climbs through the veil to share the afterlives of six spirit kids, age 1 1/2 to 12. Like your book Mrs. Tipperwillow's Afterlife Adventures (www.tipperwillow.com  is not a religious tract, but experiential. Jesus does come in several times answering two children's calls. And so it is. God is described as being in you and in me and in everything everywhere. Like your book, with reincarnation ... the spirit children go on "field trips" to visit The Library of Lives (Hall of Records/ Akashic records) and open their life books to see moving pictures of their various lifetimes that they can actually feel. They learn how these lifetimes form a pattern and that each added life "makes the pattern more beautiful." I look forward to the day when the greatest questions will be answered for everyone and loss will be accompanied by the immediate and constant knowing ... and feeling that our loved ones are "just in the next room." My mom mourned my father's death for forty years, never really living again. I always wondered what her life would have been if she worked it though. Blessings to all on this site who help each other work it through.

Dear Members,

We are excited to mention that we are moving to a more new and improved message boards on MONDAY MORNING AUGUST 9th! The boards will be done for a few hours while we are making the conversation. Remember we posted information about this move a month ago. For some of you this might seem a bit sudden,  but when we were reviewing the site we determined the current message board you are using is out of date and the company that designed it is no longer in existence. The good news is this new message board will have new features that have been requested in the past like more fields we can add to your profiles and a chat room up to 20 people at one time. If we find the chat room is bursting at the seams we will add additional room for extra people. All your old posts, private messages and such will be migrated to the new message board. You might have to put up your profile picture again but not sure. The new company will be doing the migration for us. Here is a short list of some of the new features on the board:

- Custom Profile Fields

- Users can customize their profile pages by selecting a background color or background image, with tiling options.

- Facebook and Twitter Integration

- users can respond to multiple posts at once with "mini-quote"

- Pinned discussion threads - like welcome to our board etc.

- Announcements made across some boards or the entire message board

- Search: Users can easily find all content generated by a particular member, by clicking the 'Find Content' button that appears on the main profile page, or in the Mini Profile Popup which can be accessed throughout the board. The results page allows content to be filtered by application, as well whether the member created it or merely participated in it.

- Privacy: allows users to sign in anonymously, hiding them from the online users list. Users also have the option to disable personal conversations and user-to-user emails, as well as ignore other users if necessary.

The next exciting piece of news about the new message board is it will have a new domain name of www.grieving.com for search engine optimization purposes. It will still be apart of Beyond Indigo and can be found through www.beyondindigo.com. We will be redirecting your current URL's to this new domain name but we might miss a few. If that is the case simply go back to www.grieving.com or www.beyondindigo.com to find your message board thread. We will try to make the transition as seamless as possible.

The bottom line is the new board will give us room to grow our community and more options to interact better with each other.

If you have any questions please direct them to feedback@beyondindigo.com.

Hi Dear Ones, There is so much deep breathing around loss and grief. At least for one question ... what happens to people when they die ... I have been blessed with channeled (heard)stories. Mrs. Tipperwillow's Afterlife Adventures is now inexpensive through amazon. My second set of stories, two little tales told by a ten-year-old and his six year old "sister" in the spirit world is perfect for young children to show that dying is just blinking your eyes and finding yourself somewhere outside of the body. This is called About Afterlife, Two Kid's Stories and I am happy to gift it to any of you as an e book if you want to email me at: tipperwillow@yahoo.com  I will publish it a bit later. Blessings!
