Hmm... I read this quote in an email yesterday (had never heard the saying before) and it's been rattling around in my brain ever since.

Is this a thing?

It feels like a (maybe significant) shift in attitude to me.

So far, I've been begging, praying, bargaining, negotiating, hoping  for "a lighter pack" because I felt so overwhelmed and unable to cope...

I think the point is that "the pack" is unchanging (the loss), but having a "stronger back" refers to how we learn to live with it and although it's never easy, it does get easier over time.

Yes this is a journey that evolves...if we let it, thus lightening our load a bit in time.

I have learned over time that I cannot change as to how I lost my husband and     that he’s never coming back., I had to accept these things in order for me to move forward.
