Members amanda martinez
I went back to work last week physically, not mentally. Last week was tough, family and friends had left... my daughters went back to college. It was my first real week alone. I immersed myself in counseling, group grief counseling, grief books (the best is "It's ok not to be Ok"), and walking around the lake where we spent all of our time together. It gave me such peace and serenity to walk, see the water, talk to him, and cry... we even laughed a bit. We were supposed to go see the Kansas City Chiefs football game today and I am going to try my hardest to watch it at home. Every Sunday we would Kayak in the morning and during football season that would consume the rest of the day. 1
Moderators widower2 Posted September 17, 2023 Moderators Report Share Posted September 17, 2023 I'm very sorry for your loss but glad you have had family/friends to help and are keeping busy; I think that can help to get through days, and you're going through what is often some of the hardest IMO...after the flurry of activity (funeral stuff, paperwork, people reaching out etc) is over and the dust is settling. I like college ball more than the NFL but still watch/follow both. So yeah, I don't get as much done around the house on weekends as I was before

Members shawnt
That book helped me also. I found my work helped when I got immersed but my concentration is still not good and I frustrate much easier, I dont/ can't juggle as many things anymore but this is the rest of my life so I have no choice but to adapt. Take it easy on yourself, give yourself space to grieve and this site really helps.

Hi there, sorry for the delay. Our wedding anniversary was yesterday so I spent the weekend with my adult daughters to keep me busy and try to celebrate Kert.
