Members AnaC
My cat Lupin got hit by a car today and he did not make it. He was less than 2 years old and the cutest cat ever. My husband is traveling a lot and in the past years I found myself very often alone at home. It is hard to make friends in Vancouver as an immigrant. We adopted Lupin when he was a baby and I immediately sensed we were going to have a special relationship. I have chronic anxiety and Lupin comforted me for so many nights. He was a real cuddler and he loved roaming around in the neighborhood and playing with other young cats, always coming back home to receive and give love. I am gonna miss him deeply. 2
Moderators KayC Posted August 5, 2023 Moderators Report Share Posted August 5, 2023 I am so sorry for your loss. I know what my pets mean to me and losing one is beyond description. (((hugs))) I, too, deal with anxiety, have a service dog I don't know what I'd do without, and a feral cat I adopted a year ago April. I have an injured foot (tendon) and yesterday saw a small young bobcat chasing him through the woods, so I grabbed an axe and took off after them! I didn't envision what could happen if I caught the bobcat, but just ran like my foot was the wind! Could not catch them, so relieved when my Panther made it back. He's lived his life feral, all I can do is provide him food and shelter in his old age, but it's hard knowing I can't always protect him. To keep him safe he'd have to be in the house 24/7 and he'd never go for that. You can rest assured your kitty is at peace now... The what ifs blame game happens to most of us going through early grief, it did me when my husband died nearly 18 years ago...it's not that we are guilty of anything but loving them, and the truth is feelings are not facts, but it's that we can't wrap our heads around what happened, and our mind is trying to find some different possible outcome so it searches all the what ifs...
