This has all happened within 1 yr. Now I'm scrambling to get power of attorney on them and do what I'm supposed to . They don't have alot. I'm an only child. It's too much. My mo. Was taking care of dad now it's just me she'll never be able to take care of him or barely herself after radiation starts. I have a job I need and my own rent to pay I'm so afraid and not prepared. Members In shock
I'm sorry to hear you are going through so much. Have you contacted any dementia organizations and cancer organizations for advice and information? Many areas have support groups for these illnesses. Do your parents have any siblings? If so, could they help at all? Or any cousins? Also, see whether their insurance provides for any kind of part-time caregivers or respite. Hopefully, the attorney can answer your questions about finances and estate planning options. Make lists of all your questions to take with you to appointments with professionals. I hope someone with experience with your parents' exact conditions will see your question and reply. Take care.
