Niece recently diagnosed with cancer, not sure how to deal

My 32 yr old niece was recently diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma. Even though she's doing fairly well now, I still can't help but see this as a death sentence. Cancer is new territory for my family since no one has ever had it. 

I'm trying to hide my pain from my niece because I know she needs all the positivity she can get but I'm absolutely gutted. I barely eat or sleep and I break down crying constantly. It doesn't help that we don't live in the same state and most of our other family is also spread out. 

How can I bring my stress levels down? I work full time and I go for a walk or to the gym after work because it seems like as soon as I sit still I get extreme anxiety. How can I cope better with this diagnosis?
