Members PRCristobal Posted December 2, 2020 Members Report Posted December 2, 2020 My brother and I found our father deceased after many attempts of contact. EMS helped break the door down. Very difficult afterwards upon finding his body. I'll be honest, I have never been put in such a spot of responsibility to look after him now that he has passed. We're having difficulty trying to find his legal representation as we are only vaguely aware of what he wanted after he was gone. He also owns the building where he passed away along with 3 other tenants in different apartments. Anyone with ideas on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. He has mountains of papers and no real direction of who to contact legally. He was a bit paranoid hence the huge amount of papers and a pile of cellphones. Fortunately, we figured out with police on his body removal. Any links to information on legal advice is also appreciated.
Members tessa Posted December 5, 2020 Members Report Posted December 5, 2020 Hi PRCrisobal, I'm so sorry for your loss. Does anyone know if he has a Will? Can you start hunting through his paper work to look for his Will. If you can't find a will, I would read up on intestate and see what happens in your state/country. Going through his paperwork hunting for a Will is a big job but you never know what he may have hidden. We found my mother's jewellry, we didn't know she had.
Members Wallflowerette Posted December 6, 2020 Members Report Posted December 6, 2020 Found pro bono legal aid in your area, I feel speaking with a professional is the right first step for tackling the will issue. https://www.justia.com/lawyers/connecticut/hartford/legal-aid-and-pro-bono-service I'm sorry you have to solve extra problems while dealing with his death.
