Holiday of Longing

Filled with apprehension and longing,

This holiday coming.

With each day drawing it closer,

Sadness creeps along.

Starting in my toes,

Moving up my body.

A familiar ache,

Arises in my chest.

Settling in my heart,

As acceptance comes.

Another year has passed,

Without you.

A lifetime of memories,

To think of.

They are never enough,

But will have to do.
