Today is very hard day to me. since 2 days ago one of my cats(4 cats) has strange behavior. she slept all day long and look sick, so i found she has so much earcandles on her ears. so i ignored her as i thought she will be healed by time(maybe 1 or 2 days). and i can see she got cold, so i gave her PARACETAMOL by forcely put the pills to her mouth (this was my biggest mistakes!! and i didn't know!!).

next 15 minutes she kept meowing and she get her tounge off just like dogs and she puked and i can see the pink colour out of her mouth and i guess its from the paracetamol,,and then she started to drool from her mouth,,and then she got convulsion and her breath started to slow down and i kept pushing her chest and gave her water to her mouth,, and i can see she was dying.. so i take her to the vet doctor with hope she just comma or something,, and the doctor told me she already gone and shows no sign of life/breathing. and the doctor told me that paracetamol is prohibited to be given to cat and can be poisonous and shouldn't be given. i googled it and now i know paracetamol is toxicious for cat.

my heart was crushed and i feel like a moron and i feel like a murderer/killer. until i wrote this i can feel my guilty and says to myself how stupid i was. she would still alive if i wasn't that stupid.. :(

i wish she was here. im so stupid..

I am so sorry to hear this. I know you feel awful but this was an honest mistake. e all make them. My cat also got sick in a similar way. To this day I don't know what he ingested to make him so violently sick it was horrible. Any role I played in it made me crazy with guilt and anger.

You are no killer, it was an accident which you now know never to do. I am really sorry you have to deal with this I promise that you find peace with it, you are not a bad person, you only made a mistake. We all do things that are wrong, accidents, etc.

You have to check with your vet before giving any medication to an animal as they process things differently than we do.  They can usually suggest an alternative medicine that would be safe for them.  I haven't heard the word ear candles, there is a term called that but it's something different than how you used it so I'm not sure what you meant.

I am very sorry for your loss and want you to know that most of us feel guilt when our pets or people die, we feel we should have been able to stop it or do something different.  The truth is we loved them and would never knowingly contribute to their death.  We do make mistakes and don't foresee everything.

One of the worst mistakes I ever made was when an animal communicator told me to give my kittens blackseed oil to get rid of parasites I assumed they had. Yes, there is a safe dose of BSO (blackseed oil) for cats, and it is pretty microscopic. What I did was to feed them straight BSO by mouth and also smear some on their fur. Their fur and skin sloughed off and they stopped eating. One died after two days, the other after about six days, and the third one had refused to take any by mouth and ended up with chemical burns, which have by now healed completely. If ever you are not sure about giving something to a cat, canigivemycat.com is a fairly complete and accurate resource. Or just google the item + cats and see what comes up. I did not have internet on my farm when this stupidness took place.

Leni:  I am so sorry for your loss. You obviously were trying to help them. Sometimes we panic and rush to help an animal and unfortunately, it goes wrong. I'm sorry that happened to you. One of the cats I rescued had a big bleeding gauge out of his leg. After washing the wound I used Tea Tree Oil on it. i had the oil because I used it to clean my dog's ear with it. That was okay but...not on a cat. Luckily I didn't use much. He healed up fine, never got sick from the Oil  but I did later find out that Tea Tree Oil should not be used on cats.

Thanks for posting the link for canigivemycat.com   I notice that there is also a link for dogs  canigivemydog.com

Thanks for sharing this, I have bookmarked it in case I get another cat someday.

I am so sorry for your losses!  That someone would tell you to give them something or not tell you how, it's horrible that they and you suffered for it.  When my son was a baby, he had colic, my MIL told me to give him essence of peppermint, so I put a dab on his tongue, he screamed and cried, I felt horrible and stupid when she THEN told me I should have put a drop in his bottle.  She knew he didn't take a bottle as he was nursing.  Anyway, ditched that idea!  You are not alone for making a mistake, we all do, we don't know what we don't know.
