Members ammymun
Hi, everyone. My son is 8 years old. From few days he is complaining about ear pain. He says that he has ear pain when he listens to music at high volume. When I spoke with my friend she asked me to observe him whether he is watching television with high volume or not. I was observing that. I found that he is listening to the movie as well as speaking to others in very high volume. I took him to our family doctor. After initial examinations, he told that my son has little hearing trouble. He told me to consult hearing aid specialist from a clinic in Toronto. He is just 8 years old. Will there be a need for hearing aid at this small age? Is there any alternative other than this hearing aid that can improve his hearing ability? It will be nice if you can share your thoughts regarding this!
Members MollieMcDoodlesMom
ammymum, Its a good idea to see the specialist because hearing loss can be a result of different things. Perhaps it is nothing more than a hearing test to find out if it’s due to nerve damage, like what my husband has. Just go and get some information. My husband used an amplifier for a while before getting hearing aides. He loss is due to his muscle disease which affects hearing. He has a constant ringing, so nothing can really help him. I understand you have concerns because he is young. Also, maybe a chiropractor can see if he needs help. It sounds odd, but my uncle fell off a porch as a toddler and stopped talking from possible pinched nerve. Their friend who was a chiropractor gave him an adjustment and he began talking again. I wonder if it’s possible that your sons hearing might be affected in a similar way ? Of course this is only speculation on my part. I hope you will find out something positive soon. Best Wishes, Frances
