Members Shane1980
My lab has been sick and dealing with some minor liver issues over the last month: became more sick over the last couple of days, me and my wife knew that it was almost time for him to go to doggy heaven, we picked I’m up as he was unable to walk: to put him in our car; he passed away on the way to the vet; me and my wife are completely broken he was such a big part of our family
Members AJWCat
Hi Shane, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. He was obviously very sick . I know how heartbreaking it is. I know that was not exactly your vision of the end, but at least you guys were with him at the time. I wish I could say something that would make you feel better. He was a big part of your family so you are going to grieve his passing like any person. (I cried more losing my cat than for any person I know who has passed.) Try to lean on each other and be patient with the transition to life without him. It is shocking to lose your dog and all the things you guys did, all the rituals. So things will feel really "wrong" with the world - at least they did for me. So, I wish you as much peace and comfort as you can get now and I am truly sorry for your loss. Moderators KayC Posted December 15, 2017 Moderators Report Share Posted December 15, 2017 Your dog picked the time, and you were astute in realizing his end was near. The loss feels unbearable, I know, it's hard. Doctors can give us pain medication for physical pain, but why oh why isn't there something to help an aching heart?! It takes much time to process their death, to assimilate the changes it means to our lives. I wish you and your wife peace for your aching hearts.
