Moderators widower2 Posted November 27 Moderators Report Posted November 27 I recall all too well how hard those first holidays were and can still be...wishing you better days which hopefully include family/friends/SOMEBODY....anything but being alone (been there too). You can do this. 3
Moderators KayC Posted November 27 Moderators Report Posted November 27 Thank you, @widower2, and to you also. Iris invited me to Methodist dinner, all I can eat is the turkey and maybe salad if they have it, no croutons, but at least I'll be out for a while. 2
Members Sparky1 Posted November 27 Members Report Posted November 27 @widower2 Thanks, being alone on a holiday is really brutal. Thankfully for Christmas my brother and sister invited me, but I might be with the kids instead. Don't know what the kids are doing though which irks me, I just have to wait. And Happy Thanksgiving to all the Americans here, we had ours last month here in Canada. 1 2
Members DMB Posted November 27 Members Report Posted November 27 Thanks, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! My younger brother is the usual host for Thanksgiving. This will be the 5th year without the mister, and this is the 1st without our sister. Thinking there will be tears as my brother recites the blessing. It will be a full house which is hectic, but nice to get to share time with our cousins and others I don't see that often. At home, I just finished painting my kitchen. Making holiday soup (aka Italian wedding soup) just like my grandmother did from scratch for the dinner. I will also have late husband's sister and brother stop in, as well as my best friends, earlier in the day so I'm making a grazing board with different things like prosciutto, cheese, candied salmon, mini bagels, some fruit, and eggs benedict deviled eggs. Homemade jelly and a fig spread I have. As well as some mimosas. Will probably drink too much tomorrow, but no worries, my son is my driver. Then, I plan to spend the rest of the weekend cleaning up more from the paint job and starting to get out Christmas stuff and mostly just relaxing in between on Fri, Sat, and Sun. Blessings to you all. 2
