Members Brazil Man Posted November 13 Members Report Posted November 13 My wife is gone but I have many sweet memories about her. I remember walking with her at the park having long conversations. I was also happy when I watch she opening the packages she received by mail. Small details but unforgattable. And you friends, which are your sweet memories ? 2 1
Moderators KayC Posted November 13 Moderators Report Posted November 13 So many, but the greatest was our unmistakeable connection, holding hands & cuddling on the couch, talking over our day, fixing him dinner, he loved and appreciated everything. Spooning while we slept. Our walks and hikes. He loved watching me do my stamp art! He said I made happy sounds, like whistling and humming and stuff. He tried his hand at it but he was better at gardening. 1 1
Members Sparky1 Posted November 13 Members Report Posted November 13 Lots of memories too, but I loved when we were in the car together and she would hold my hand or tickle my ear. Also she would be awake early and call me on my way to work, her sweet voice made my day. She had the voice of an angel, and fell in love with it from the first time we met. 2
Members WithoutHer Posted November 14 Members Report Posted November 14 My favorite memories are before Vickie had her heart surgery. We had Friday night routine of going into West Virginia to our grocery and other shopping. It's about a 20 or so minute but interesting drive. First bridge across the Potomac river into Virginia putting you in the valley where civil war famous Harpers Ferry is across the river. You enter West Virginia on the same side. Then another bridge back across river where the entrance to Harpers Ferry is then a long uphill climb and several miles into Charles Town. We would hit Aldi first. We had thermal bags for our cold stuff. We would then hit Subway or McDonald's or KFC or a large Dairy Queen just north of town. Long Johns was in the mix until we got some bad fish. We would drive onto a large parking lot at Charles Town races and Casino and park right next to the end of the race track and watch the ponies while we ate dinner. Sometimes we would hit Food Lion for some odd ball things then across the street to Walmart to finish the evening. We would often get home around midnight but those were such enjoyable traditional routine trips together. We mad many weekend journeys which we both looked forward to more when I retired and immediately the pandemic started. But all those Friday nights stick with me most. We were just happy together and didn't require much. It was a simple perfect life for both of us. We both had relationship issues before fate brought us together. Her daughter and I have discussed it and come to the conclusion even though she was fighting different illnesses when we met her coming here added ten years to here life and happy years we both needed. 3

That's how I felt about George's voice! I'll never forget the first time I heard it! I think it made me fall in love. Your life together sounds much like ours. We always did our shopping together. We were always together and loved it. 4

Oh yes Kay, the first time we talked on the phone was for over six hours, and all I could think about was how sweet her voice was. We always shopped together, and even going down the aisles I would tell her that I loved her and we would kiss. I was never embarrassed to kiss her in public, who cares what others think. 4
Moderators KayC Posted November 14 Moderators Report Posted November 14 That's how it was with us. Grocery shopping for us was an all day trip, we'd go to friends and bring pizza, then grocery shopping then 50 miles home. I'd watch the clerk and he'd bag. He'd carry in the groceries while I put them away. Then I'd fix dinner and he always loved whatever I fixed. We'd sit on the couch and hold hands and cuddle. 2
Members Popular Post Dennis W Posted November 15 Members Popular Post Report Posted November 15 Cheryl loved to be around water and there is a beautiful lake in central Kentucky near where we lived at that time. We would often pack a lunch and drive down there to just sit by the water and watch the boats go by. Those were wonderful, simple times. As much as I treasure those memories, it breaks my heart to think that they can never happen again and all I have left without her are memories, loneliness, and emptiness. 5
