I just lost my 14 yr old baby apple head chiuhauha, a couple days ago and I don't know how to feel. He died from a seziure that last about 4 hours. it was extremely traumatic . I have been extremely sad because it happened suddenly and watching him suffer was alot. I never left his side. Part of me feels extremely guilty because I also feel a large weight off my shoulders. I miss him so much, I was prepared for death but not this way. He died in my arms and it continously plays in my mind. I have gone out with family but when I come home I anticipate his bark or waking him up to let him know I'm home. His bowl is still in the kitchen which I try to avoid and sleep with his favorite toy every night. I am struggling without him.

Of course you are struggling.  Grief is very difficult.

You can rest assured your dog is at peace now...

The what ifs blame game happens to most of us going through early grief, it did me when my husband died nearly 19 years ago...it's not that we are guilty of anything but loving them, and the truth is feelings are not facts, but it's that we can't wrap our heads around what happened, and our mind is trying to find some different possible outcome so it searches all the what ifs...

I am so so sorry for your loss. And that it was traumatic. I've been through a bad loss like that, too.

It's very hard to go through especially when you protect your animal for years and then their last hours are not good. It's heartbreaking.  In my situation, I try to remember at least I was there and he wasn't alone.

I promise you will come to find peace with it, it just takes time and patience. It's a profound loss. :(

Im sorry for your loss. I know how you feel, I lost my dog about 5 days ago and I can't handle it. He was also having seizures during his last days and I felt so helpless. Looking back, I know I made him as comfortable as I could and he left the earth knowing he was loved. Your dog died knowing you were with him and loved him <3. I also still have my dog's stuff in his spot untouched, it'll takes us some time to get the courage to move it. We got this, we'll see them again when it's our time to go ❤️

I still have Arlie's coat hanging on a chair where it always was, his leash and collar by the door.
