Members brookie19
My sweet Honey was put to sleep on Saturday. He was my first kitty and I got him to be my ESA. He was about a year and a half old when I got him last year. He was healthy for about 10 months then after I took him to the vet for lethargy they found he had a fever. After a round of antibiotics it wouldn’t break so they did some more tests and he had FIV and anemia and some infections. More antibiotics with little to no success. Eventually we did a fever of unknown origin panel and he had two kinds of mycoplasma which the current antibiotics weren’t treating. So he was prescribed a different kind of antibiotics. All the treatment and vet visits took about two months. At a checkup visit he had some weird bruising on his ears and all over his body so I was referred to an internal medicine specialist. They couldn’t find much but they gave me more antibiotics. He was finally getting better two days after that visit. Then on the third day his condition plummeted. He starting eating litter and stopped eating any food. He also had a very difficult walking, let alone standing. On Saturday morning he was in the exact same spot he was the previous night and still would not eat so I took him to the vet. The vet said he had little to no quality of life left and recommended I put him down. Since then I have been broken. I can’t go more than 30 minutes without thinking about him and sobbing. He was my boy. I thought I’d get so much more time with him. I’m devastated that I don’t get to spent another 15 years with the only kitty who understood me. I’ve never had grief hit me this hard. I tried so hard to make sure he was very well taken care of. I love him so much. It’s not fair how soon he was taken for me.
Moderators KayC Posted September 3 Moderators Report Share Posted September 3 I am so sorry. Losing a pet can be one of the hardest losses there is. It seems so unfair that you lose him so soon after getting him. You can rest assured your kitty is at peace now... Comfort for Grieving Animal Lovers I hope this short video brings you some comfort and peace.
Members Choogy
I know exactly how you feel. Our kitty was about the same age.and it’s been nearly 5 months and I’m still struggling, BAD!!.We took her in with a litter of 4 kittens and she was only a kitten herself.,We got the kittens good homes. Then in April she went out early one morning as she always did and for whatever reason she jumped over our back fence and got mauled by four dogs.We rushed her to the vets but in the end we lost her.Her name was Lulu …..Not one day since April 16th,2024 has gone by that I haven’t cried for her and just wishing that things could have been different..We’re 70 years + and we’ve had a lot of pets over the decades that have all lived to old age but this little girl was taken way too soon.I hope you feel better soon.
Moderators KayC Posted September 6 Moderators Report Share Posted September 6 I am so sorry, @Choogy. I've lost 25 dogs and cats in my lifetime, also in my 70s, and some hit you hard, how it was losing my last dog. He was my soulmate in a dog, goofy, fun, I loved him so much. I now have a registered service dog, very sweet, my constant companion. I tell him about my Arlie and how much they would have loved each other.
