Members Popular Post DMB Posted August 29 Members Popular Post Report Posted August 29 Hi. I just lost my sister. She was 60. Lived with metastatic breast cancer for 10 years. This last progression went to the meninge (the protective fluid around your brain and spine). It was fast and nasty; she was in a lot of pain. She has left a husband of 33 years and 2 wonderful girls. They never left her side. I was there in her last hour. She passed just after I left her. This is a whole new sort of pain and grief, and I am barely functioning. I had the doc call in a few Ativan. Can't do this funeral under my own power. When I lost my husband, it was during covid so I could not hold a funeral. I think that was a blessing in disguise, as this one is going to be really hard for me. Any helpful words would be much appreciated. You all know in the beginning how hard it is. Getting going this morning was exceptionally hard as the only thought that kept spinning around is that I woke up today, but my dear sweet sister did not. 6
Moderators KayC Posted August 29 Moderators Report Posted August 29 Losing my older sister was really hard, I went through that two years ago. She'd lost her husband, like a brother to me, just 1 1/2 years before. I am so sorry you are going through this. 1 2
Members Stars*in*the*sky Posted August 31 Members Report Posted August 31 Hello there DMB, 🌟 I am sorry to read of the death of your sister. May she rest in peace after all of her health struggles. You wrote that you can’t do her memorial ceremony under your own power. On the day of her memorial…stand tall and have inner strength. Think of all the good memories you shared and carry them with you in your heart every day forward. She will always be by your side in spirit. Sending courage and sunshine your way. Remember…inner strength. Take care. 🌟 3
