Members Loss of a Few Posted April 15 Members Report Posted April 15 Good Day, Over the past few years my family has experienced a few losses. All losses were a significant impact to me per I had close relationships with everyone. I am the person of the family that did what was necessary in each instance to ensure all final arrangements were taken care of. I have struggled with how family dynamics change when people die. It is hard for me to understand why that has to be? I guess my biggest issue with my family drifting further and further apart is due to how we were raised. We were raised "tight knit" and most of us maintained those relationships through our teen and adult years. I am just at a loss.....and this feels like I am also mourning the loss of my family. 1
Moderators KayC Posted April 15 Moderators Report Posted April 15 IDK, I went through the same thing when my sisters died. It's like we're fragmented. I call them or it doesn't happen.
Members Loss of a Few Posted April 15 Author Members Report Posted April 15 Same and it almost saddens me more than the actual losses. I have always heard that divorce and death changes people....it is just weird that I am actually living that. Good thing is after my mom passed, my sisters and I remain close. We also lost a sister almost 2 years ago. The relationship with my sisters is probably the only relationship that I think will remain the same. 1
Moderators KayC Posted April 15 Moderators Report Posted April 15 I was extremely close to the one that died two years ago, she was disabled and had dementia, I was her caregiver. Things actually changed dynamics when my quadriplegic sister died six years ago, she brought us together from all over the state to take her out to eat and shopping. Between that, aging and Peggy's worsening... I'm glad you have your sisters, between them and my kids that I rarely see, I am alone in my old age. I hope you and your sisters remain close.
