Still grieving after 20+ years

I'm struggling anew this fall with some intense grief for my mother. She died over 23 years ago, when I was 19 years old. I am now older than she was when she died. Is there anyone else in the same boat? I feel pretty alone with this. Also, I wonder if grief is different/more complicated when the loss occurs in the stage of life when a person is transitioning from child to adult. That is definitely where I was at when she became sick with cancer and died three short months later. What do you think?
