Members Kate Lynn-Devere
Hello, My name is Kate Lynn-Devere and I am working with artist Emily Peasgood to create a new memorial artwork called “When the World Stood Still”. We would like to invite anyone affected by bereavement due to Covid-19 to share their stories with us, to help inspire this memorial. The artwork will feature music by Emily and lyrics by myself. I understand how terribly difficult it is to cope with sudden bereavement, having lost my thirteen year old daughter Alex in July 2005 and my brother Geoff in March 2020. As a songwriter and lyricist, I have found that writing about my lost loved ones and turning what I write into art has helped me deal with my grief. This is a chance for everyone bereaved by Covid-19 to help make a memorial artwork in honour of your lost loved one's memory. I promise to read or listen to every story shared with us and to do my very best to weave our shared pain into something beautiful, to honour and remember those we have lost. I know how hard it can be to know where to start, especially when the grief is raw. If you need help to get started, we have provided some prompts on our survey page, and there is an option to simply answer some questions, if writing feels too difficult. If you just want to tell us the name of the person you lost, I welcome that.
