Members Popular Post Gail 8588
I know this is true for all of you too, but I just wanted to share/vent/cry. My son, who turns 32 this week, a husband, father of a sweet 2 yr old and with a second child coming in a few months, has just been diagnosed with cancer. I can't stop crying. Life is hard. Moderators KayC Posted July 2, 2021 Moderators Report Share Posted July 2, 2021 OMG, Gail, I am so sorry! That is horrific news to be sure! I will be praying for him, and for you too. No answers, only cling to hope of his healing, I am going through this with my best friend too. She's elected not to do surgery & chemo and that has me scared for her...and for those of us who love her. 1
Members Gail 8588
This is a blood cancer. No surgery option exists. 1
Members foreverhis
Gail, I don’t know what to say. This is so unfair. Of course you are crying. How could it be otherwise? I’m so sorry for you, your son, and his family. My heart breaks for all of you. I urge you to go into “one hour at a time” thinking for now. Just get through right now. If it were me, I would also go into “find out all I can” mode after a while. This will probably sound stupid, but is there anything we can do, besides being here for you and sending hope and prayers? Members LMR
Gail, Kay. I am so sorry for you. I have sent you both some info. It may help or may not. We do what we can. Hugs
Members Popular Post Gail 8588
Thanks, for your support. Nothing for you to do really, I just needed to tell someone how sad I am. He is working with a blood cancer specialist. I know we all have trials and tribulations of our own, with family members, etc. The grief we endure over the death of our soulmates is life shattering by itself, but more and different troubles pile on as we plod along without them. It's just hard. My heart breaks for his young family as they face this ordeal. Gail 1

Members Perro J
Gail, I want only the best outcome for him and I will hope and pray that the treatments are effective. So many of us here know what a formidable and real foe cancer is; but some people do beat it back into remission. May that be the case with this young man.

Members Darlene13
So very sorry to hear this. I'll be praying for him, and your whole family, Gail. I know two people who've had blood cancers for years now and they are doing well with chemo. There is hope. Sending hugs... Darlene 3
Members Popular Post Maria_PI
Gail, I am so sorry to hear about your son! I hope he gets the best care and help to beat this! There are different types of blood cancer and some are easier to treat, also he has youth on his side to help him in this battle. Hopefully he gets to remission quickly and is able to get stem cell transplant. If he is in Florida, Moffitt in Tampa is the place to go, they know what they are doing and are doing it well, and time is precious. Wishing him strength and good spirit to overcome this! You've been dealt quite a blow. Be kind to yourself and let us know how we can help.

Members Popular Post Gail 8588
Surfer and Tnd, Thanks for your kind words and support. He is doing everything his doctor recommends. I think that is all that can be done at this point. I wish we could get done with this pandemic, as I feel he is at greater risk than the average person. He is vaccinated, so that is good. Florida is completely out of control with covid right now. More than 20,000 new cases a day for weeks now. Right now HHS is reporting we have about 200 deaths each day, but those numbers usually go up as time goes on due to some processing delays in the death certificates. Maybe the coroner's offices are overwhelmed too. It's really bad down here. Gail 1
