I lost my Mum to cancer very recently, having trouble dealing with grief

Hi there,

My Mum recently died from cancer, only a few days ago. It was pretty horrible and in the end it was an unexpected death, and somewhat traumatic for my Mum. I'm having difficulties coping with the loss, I'm only 28 and have not had kids yet or am married, both of these things are planned in the very near future. I just don't know how to cope with this, I'm anxious about Christmas, as silly as that sounds. I've got family support, but I'm feeling like most of the things I previously enjoyed, I'm not interested in. I'm also having trouble eating.

How do I cope with this, I miss my Mum so much, I just want her back again.

I am so very sorry that I just saw this post. I am sorry about the loss of your dear mother. I'm sure you are reeling at this point. For now, because it is so very new to you, just concentrate on getting through a little at a time. Cry as much as you want to, but remember to take care of yourself. Try to refrain from alcohol or other drugs because in the long run, they cause more problems than they cure.

Have you considered joining an emotional support group in your town? The very best way to heal is to talk about your feelings. Talk to everyone about how you feel. Lean on your friends for now. They will understand.

We have a "loss of a parent" forum at the top of the page. You will find more support there.
