Hi all,  I'm sure you've noticed some changes in the forums. We've again had to do some updates, so that's why things may look a little different. Nothing major should have changed.  Also, we are going to start adding advertisements sensitive to our community on the boards. This is something we are experimenting with, and we will certainly make sure they are in the best interests of everyone. We want to make sure our forums continue to stay accessible and cost free to all of our members, and this is a way to ensure this.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to privately message me or email me at Konnie@beyondindigo.com.  As always, we will be here with you, ModKonnie

  1. My Mom's Suicide

Good afternoon, We have been contacted by Rebecca Thorp, Survivor Initiatives Manager, from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. There is an upcoming facilitator training program that may be of interest to some of our message board members and/or guests. Details are below: Learn How to Facilitate a Support Group for Survivors of Suicide Loss The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) offers a comprehensive hands-on training program to help survivors of suicide loss learn the "how-to's" of creating and facilitating a support group. The two-day program combines lecture, interactive discussion and role-playing with feedback. The training program is appropriate both for survivors who would like to start a new group, as well as those who currently facilitate a group and would like to increase their knowledge and skills. Mental health professionals are also welcome, although professional education credits are not available. Note: In order to create an environment in which participants can best develop and practice the skills necessary to facilitate a group effectively, survivors should wait at least two years after the suicide of their loved one before attending. This training program is not meant to serve as a healing conference; you can find information about healing conferences at www.afsp.org/survivorday or you can call 1-888-333-2377 x33. The program is offered several times a year, in different cities across the nation. Details and registration are available at www.afsp.org/facilitatortraining 2-3 months before each training date. We recommend registering early to secure a spot. Next Training: Lexington, SC - August 13-14, 2010. Details and Registration Form A self-study package is also available for purchase. Go to www.afsp.org/facilitatortraining for information. Questions? Email survivingsuicideloss@afsp.org or call 1-888-333-2377 x33. Thank you. Sincerely, Jude, “BI Forum Help”

  4. Loss a Guinea Pig

Good evening, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. I had a guinea pig, but am no expert on them. I'm not sure if they prefer to be alone or with another for company. My Abbie was alone but she seemed fine with it, we gave her lots of attention, maybe that's why. I'd first try to find out, if you can, what your pet died of, in case it's contagous. The one you still have may need to have a visit to the vets. Google guinea pigs and see what you can find out. Keep me posted, will you? Jude "BIForumHelp"
