My son was at his fathers house and his father went to work and was killed while working. My son heard the family talking to other family about what had happened and my son now knows what happened but doesnt understand why he cant come back home and be with his little boy. Hes been acting as if hes a baby in a way like lapping tounge with noises, screams or raises voice when others talk. Not sure how he can be in kindergarten while being disrespectful and loud n not listening and he screams n cries when u tell him to sit n be quiet.he responds by saying ive not got any time with u and saying he wants to spend more time with me when ive been home all day every day with him since this happened. He says I dont love him or want him or take care of him when ive given him my undevided attention daily. Im not sure what to say or do I just know this will be an issue in school.

I am very sorry about the loss of your son's father. I believe you need to call the school and arrange to meet with a counselor to discuss how to best deal with your son's current behavior, his grieving and his future needs. They will be able to direct you and give you some solid advice for this.

I think as a parent, too, at home, you can be attentive to his needs but also firm, fair and consistent when he displays the unwanted behavior.

We will be here for you,
