I am sorry Linsday... I understand your pain.  My Mom died on 10/13/14 and it's so hard for me to write those words too.  I am missing my Mom so much like you are missing your Mom.

You have to think of how your Mom would have wanted you to go on, that's what I do.  While we can cry and be sad, we have to remember our mothers as the warriors they were.  Your Mom was strong, she probably fought that cancer like a true champion.  My Mom too.. had cancer at one time and had a blood disorder that resulted in her death.

I know it's so hard for both of us.  Maybe try to talk to your Dad once every other day or so so the guilt isn't too bad, and talk to him in time limits.. maybe say I'll talk to him for 10 minutes today.  That way you can have a relationship with him still and not feel so guilty.

I know it hurts so bad, it does for me too.  I am 52yo and my Mom was 80.

Please write if you are still hurting... I am here to listen.

Dear Lindsay,

I am so sorry to hear that you lost your Mom at such a young age.  It must be very hard to deal with your own grief and also have a Dad who is grieving and needs your support.  This is a hard thing to do when you are struggling with your own feelings.  Although my Mom is still alive, I did lose my Father and Son in June of this year and have been at a loss as to what to do with the deep sadness and pain I have been feeling ever since their passing.

I do find that taking long walks outside helps.  I am trying to understand why God would take my only child away from me at such a young age, but cannot understand.  The only thing that I can think of is he had a special assignment for my beautiful boy.

Sometimes I find comfort in being around my home where my son lived and sometimes it seems overwhelming - the memories of him.  I am sure this must be the same for you when you are in your Mom's home.  It may eventually bring you comfort to be around your Mom's things.

Again, this is a difficult journey, not easy to understand or comprehend.

I hope you find comfort around others in these rooms who are also experiencing loss of a loved one.

Prayers and blessings for you and your Dad.

Lisa
