Living will

My father apparently had a living hell. He had a stroke which affected his left side of his body he was able to communicate and was completely aware of what was going on. His wife insisted that he stated if he had a stroke he wanted to die so they did not let him have food or water and he died on the eighth day. I have notes from him begging me for water and telling me he didn't want to die, from my research if he is alert and aware of his situation he is able to communicate that his wishes should have been respected. I need to add that he did not acquire any breathing or feeding tubes. He begged me his eyes were locked on me he wouldn't even look at his wife she tried to keep us from visiting him I can't live like I did, I didn't I try to help him more, the doctor would never even speak to me I never met him.

How did I let this happen?

This all took place in a small facility in Davenport Iowa… I felt like I was in a cult and we were the enemy

I am so utterly sorry you had to experience this. Perhaps if you think there was something not right you should consider talking to a legal expert.
