I am new here in this forum and I am so relieved to see that there are others out there who feel the same way I do. Sometimes, we get so wrapped up in our own lives that we don't see the great tragedy that is happening on the other side of the world. How would we react if that were to have happened to us and people on the other side of the world wouldn't even bat an eye?
It only makes it worse when religious leaders blame the people of "divine punishment" or that they "swore a pact to the devil" or that "God is unleashing his wrath" upon them!
I just wanted to share with others what I have read directly from God's Word that has helped me.
First, when we read in the Bible about natural destruction brought by God there was always a warning before hand. Second, only those who refused to listen to those warnings were destroyed. Third, God always made a way for innocent people to escape. We can see all of this in Genesis 7:1, 23; Genesis 19: 15-17; and Numbers 16:23-27.
In fact, even after the fact that we are completely unable to control natural disasters God can certainly do so. Jeremiah 32:17 says "O Sovereign Lord Jehovah! Here you yourself have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm. The whole matter is not too wonderful for you yourself."
God's Son, Jesus Christ, has also been given authority and power to change the world into the promised conditions found in Psalms 37:10,11 "And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, and they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace".
When Jesus was on earth, he demonstrated on a small scale his ability to control natural elements, and soon he will gain full control of the earth's elements so that we may no longer suffer calamities.
Only through careful study of the Bible can we receive these truths and I thought this might be the appropriate forum to post this message in.
Thank you for listening.
Hugs,
Ada
